The Mercure Hotel (previously known as the Opole Hotel)

Map

In 1963, during the First National Festival of the Polish Song in Opole, there wasn’t enough accommodation for all festival participants who had to stay with local families or with friends and relatives. Only a number of artists would stay in  the only hotel in town at the time – the Railway Hotel. After some reconstruction and renaming to the Opole Hotel, the building could accommodate more guests. It was there, in the corridors and restaurant of the hotel, where after their festival performances, Maryla Rodowicz would sing, Zbigniew Wodecki would play trumpet and Wlodzimierz Korcz accompanied them on the piano.

Go along the Krakowska Street towards Copernicus Square where the University Hill is situated –  this is the third stop on our route.
