„Under the Spider” Restaurant
Years ago, the terraced house situated at the crossing point of three streets: Osmanczyka, Ksiazat Opolskich and Rynek, used to belong to a rich merchant from Opole, Samuel Gurass, who had a well-known textile and clothing shop on the bottom floor. After the war, the popular ‘Under the Spider’ restaurant with a disco was opened there. Since the very first National Festival of the Polish Song, the restaurant has become the festival centre point where all artists of the Polish musical scene would happily spent their time there. It was the place of less official, post-concert meetings where artists could dance until early hours of the morning. Until this day, they all recall the very special atmosphere of the place.
From the restaurant, we are only a few steps away from the Polish Song Stars Avenue, which is situated in the main square, along the Krakowska street.
